There
are two basic types of art files:
-
Vector
- also known as line art
-
Raster
- also known as bitmap art
VECTOR
ART:
Vector
art is made up of lines and curves defined by mathematical objects
called vectors. Vector art is resolution independent. Therefore, it can
be scaled to any size without loss of quality or resolution.
Acceptable
File Formats:
.eps .ai (Adobe Illustrator CS3 or lower), .cdr (Corel Draw X3 and
lower), .pdf (No placed images such as jpg and bitmap images).
Unacceptable
File Formats:
Word documents, PowerPoint, Printshop Pro, Paint Brush and other
non-graphic programs are unacceptable.
We
can only use these type of files for reference and will have to be
re-drawn by our artist. Please inquire for pricing.
Tips
for Creating Usable Vector Art:
Convert all text to outlines or curves.
Do not use placed or linked images
within the file.
(Example: Photographic images,
bitmaps,
jpg, tiff, etc.)
Use spot colors with Pantoneฎ (PMS)
solid, coated color pallet.
Half tones or gradients should be in
the 30% - 100% range.
Keep in mind that very small fonts or lines may not imprint visibly or
as
thick
as they appear in your artwork.
Artwork sent to final output size are preferred.

COLOR
MATCHING FOR VECTOR ARTWORK:
If there is a PMS color you would like to match, please specify
the color when sending your art. We will try to match color as closely
as possible. There is a $25 charge for
custom PMS matches.
RASTER
ART
:
Raster
art is created using a program like Adobe Photoshop or scanned art (such
as photographic image). A raster image consists of a grid, or bitmap, of
small squares known as pixels. Raster images are resolution dependent
(set at a fixed resolution at a specific size). Therefore
the artwork dictates the image quality. Resizing raster artwork will
directly affect image quality. Size increases will lower resolution and
create jagged (pixellated) edges.
Acceptable
File Formats:
.psd (Adobe Photoshop CS) - preferred, .jpg, .tiff, .pdf (no placed
images, native file only)
Unacceptable
File Formats:
Word documents, PowerPoint and other non-graphic programs are
unacceptable.
Tips
for Creating Usable Raster Art:
Provide 300 dpi or better at 100% final
imprint size.
Minimum resolution accepted is 150 dpi
but quality will be marginal.
All PMS matches will require added
screens and will increase cost
of
your wearable imprint.
Use of an image from a web site is not
recommended. Their
resolution
is far too low to use for your wearables imprint.
COLOR
MATCHING FOR RASTER ARTWORK:
Art will be printed in CMYK. We
cannot guarantee an exact PMS match using raster art.
